  • Who is it for?

This course builds on the content from the Level 1 Electrical Diploma and also introduces some of the content of the current electrical apprenticeship. It is therefore a major step towards becoming a fully qualified electrician.

Our teachers, who are all fully qualified electricians with many years of industry experience, will guide you through the course.

  • Entry Requirements

Students must have attained a minimum of grade 5 in GCSE Maths and a minimum of grade 4 in GCSE English and Science.

  • What does the course involve?

    This course covers:

    • Health & Safety
    • Principles of electrical science
    • Electrical installations technology
    • Installation of wiring systems and enclosures
    • Communication within building services environments

A combination of practical and theory-based work provides the footing needed to succeed in the electrical industry. The course also forms part of the electrical apprenticeship framework Standard, which can be used towards the completion of a full Advanced electrical apprenticeship at Level 3.

  • How is the course assessed?

Assessment consists of an online theory exam at the end of May and a synoptic practical assignment in June.

  • Additional Notes

Upon completing this course, you will have mastered the intricacies of electrical installation, allowing you to move into full-time employment as an electrician's mate. To become a fully qualified electrician you would need to enrol on an apprenticeship in electrical installation. Alternatively, you could progress to the Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation or the T Level in Design, Surveying & Planning for Construction.
