Who is it for?
This course is an ideal platform for learners who want to start an apprenticeship in electrical installation. It provides advanced underpinning knowledge and skills that will contribute to employment as an apprentice in electrical installation.

Entry Requirements
Successful completion of a Level 2 qualification in electrical installation and GCSE English and Maths grade 9-4 (grade A*- C).

What does the course involve?
The Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Electrical Installation explores the application of theory in practical tasks.
Compulsory topics include:- Planning and overseeing electrical work activities
- Principles of electrical science
- Electrical design and installation practices and procedures
- Principles of inspection, testing and commissioning electrical systems
- Inspecting, testing and commissioning electrical systems
- Electrical system fault diagnosis and rectification
- Requirements for electrical installations

How is the course assessed?
Assessment consists of an online theory exam at the end of May and a synoptic practical assignment in June.
This qualification is graded Pass/Merit/Distinction/Distinction*

Additional Notes
Upon completing this course, you will have mastered the intricacies of electrical installation, allowing you to move into full-time employment through an apprenticeship. You can also gain further qualifications at Shrewsbury College by completing the HNC/HTQ in Electrical & Electronic Engineering,

You will need the following:
- Protective footwear: safety boots/shoes
- Lever arch file and paper
- Pens & coloured pencils
- Scientific calculator
- Drawing instruments; ruler, protractor etc
- Current version of the on the site guide to BS7671:2018+A2:2022

Students have opportunities to enter local, national, and international competitions such as the UK SkillElec competition.
